CentralDispatch? (http://www.CentralDispatch.com), the automotive industry's online transportation marketplace, today announced that vehicle shipment postings by auto dealers continued to rise throughout the first quarter of 2009. The number of vehicles posted by CentralDispatch dealer members increased by 27% between January and March of this year. The results indicate that dealers are moving more pre-owned vehicles as online sources continue to expand nationwide access to vehicles and efficient transportation.????
CentralDispatch dealer vehicle shipments reached an all-time high of 709 average daily posting in March 2009, up from 559 posting in January of this year. The results indicate that dealers increasingly utilize online resources to access vehicles from across the nation and find the right vehicles for their markets. The increase in vehicle shipments is consistent with consumers' increased demand for pre-owned vehicles.
"In the past, dealers' used car inventory options were limited to what was on their lot or at near-by auctions," commented Joe Steinberger, CentralDispatch vice president of product and business development. "Now, with the proliferation of online auctions and an efficient online source for transportation, dealers can literally find the perfect pre-owned vehicle for every shopper because they have fast, reliable access to thousands of vehicles around the nation."????
The first quarter also saw significant increases in vehicle shipments between geographic regions. Specifically, there was a 56% increase in vehicles shipped from the Southwest to the Northwest and a 53% increase in the volume of vehicles shipped from the Southeast to the Midwest. In addition, a 50% increase occurred in vehicles moving from the Southeast to the Northeast, resulting in the largest increase in sheer number of vehicles moved: 1,123 vehicles in March versus 751 vehicles in January.
